Competence is evidenced before anyone travels. Practical testing is framed by BS EN ISO 9606-1:2017, and test parameters are read-only to assessment staff.

Assessment
An assessor records what happened. An assessor cannot change what was required.
Practical testing is carried out against approved weld procedure specifications. Material, process, consumable and examination requirements are fixed by the procedure rather than set on the day. Where conditions depart from the procedure, the deviation is written into the record rather than quietly absorbed.
