How a BlueHarbor assessment is structured

This article describes the structure of the BlueHarbor assessment route. It states process only. No outcome, volume or performance figure is quoted here.

The route

A candidate application moves through a fixed sequence of stages. Nothing is skipped, and every movement between stages is written to an audit record by the database itself rather than by a member of staff.

  1. Submitted — the candidate completes the application and consents to the processing of their data.
  2. Screening — a recruiter reviews the declared trade, experience and qualifications.
  3. Documents verified — identity, photograph and curriculum vitae are checked by a named verifier.
  4. WP1, WP2, WP3 — practical trade testing against approved weld procedure specifications.
  5. Certified — the evidence file is complete and the candidate is available for placement.
  6. Mobilised — the candidate travels against a confirmed placement.

Controlled parameters

Each weld procedure fixes its own parameters: procedure reference, standard, material grade, thickness, process, consumable, polarity, shielding gas, backing, maximum interpass temperature and examination method. These are read-only inside the platform. An assessor records what happened; an assessor cannot change what was required.

Where conditions on the day depart from the procedure, the deviation is written into the record rather than quietly absorbed.

Why the audit trail matters

A certificate is only as good as the evidence behind it. A partner's quality function should be able to ask who verified a document, who witnessed a test, on what date and against which procedure — and receive an answer that was not editable after the fact.

No cost to the worker

BlueHarbor charges no fee to a candidate at any stage of recruitment, assessment, certification or mobilisation.
